Well, it’s been a whirlwind of a year, and personally a whirlwind month. I’m going to make a small post today (sans pin) and just talk a bit about the goals I’m hoping to achieve next year. At the end of the post, I’d love for you to comment with your own goals!
- Write a new feature from a new idea. The twist on this one is I’d like it to be something I haven’t thought of yet. I’ve got almost 100 ideas for scripts that I haven’t quite fleshed out, but for this first goal, I want a new idea starting 1/1/2021 and write it into a feature spec I’d be happy to send to management or any screenwriting contest. To that end, I’ve started a writing group with a bunch of friends from the Tracking Board forums which I hope will be fruitful for all.
- Write a TV pilot
I haven’t written a pilot script in some time. At least, not since Long Walks on the Beach (which just won Best Ensemble Cast at the Asia Web Fest!). So this year, I’m hoping to have another spec ready to show off to agents by the end of the year, complete with bible! - Release my first book
If you follow along with my progress bars on my homepage, you’ll see that I have one book that I’m starting the 2nd draft of in a few weeks and another that is just about in its first draft form (I’m literally on the last chapter, with a prologue to go. PRAY4ME). My plan is to get one of these released before the next year ends in the hopes of getting my work out there even more.
If not, my back up goal would be to submit it to the prose contest the tracking board has or some other competition for review. We’ll see. - Release the first issue of Steam
This thing has been in utero since 2014 and if all goes well, the guys and I are hoping to release the first issue AND do either a Kickstarter or indie gogo or CrowdfundKichu for the rest of the season. Not sure which one yet, but no matter what, the first issue will be in our hands by this time next year. - Begin Developing a New Web Series.
I gotta think about this one a bit more. I had a great time with Long Walks on the Beach, I loved the people I worked on it with, and now it’s time to start looking towards the future. I want to produce another series that I have written and can submit to festivals as a calling card. I have a few ideas I’m batting around now, but one thing’s for sure, I’m gonna have at least a pilot and first season plotted out (on paper) before the year is over! - Make More Podcasts

We’re almost 100 downloads and so far, I’ve found the experience to be pretty fun and exciting. BQ and I have no plans to slow down, so I hope we keep finding cool guests to talk to and sweet movies to review.
That’s about where I’m at right now. How about you?
